Welcome
Welcome to the QuickMap® Developer Toolkit, the quick and easy way to include maps in your web pages and develop powerful location-based applications.
Wanting to Jump Right In?
To start using the QuickMap® Developer Toolkit please
- check out the Important Information page, it’s only a quick read and will lay the basis for understanding, especially the restrictions that apply to a development key
- register to obtain a developer key, if you have not already done so
- drop in on the Basic QuickMap® page to see how easy it is to start producing your own maps
- browse the documentation to see what you can do with the QuickMap® Developer Toolkit and learn how you can extend it into your own business.
What’s in the Toolkit?
The QuickMap® Developer Toolkit is forever expanding and developing so please drop back here often. You are also most welcome to call us and talk to us about what we can do for you. Currently the toolkit includes the following modules. Each module is automatically called by the browser whenever one of its functions are called.
- QuickMap® - This is the basic mapping toolset allowing most things to do with mapping including rendering the map itself. QuickMap® allows you to render a map; place markers, lines and polygons (shapes) on the map; basic geocoding (change an address into an XY location); and show routes with turn by turn directions.
- QuickFeatures® - This gives the developer access to their data for mapping, allowing placing of business points on maps. Data can also be stored at MDS for faster retrieval.
- QuickLocate® - A Geocoding tool allowing advanced translation to map XY coordinates, often even on incorrectly entered addresses.
Anticipated Audience
In writing these pages we have made the assumption that you are familiar with programming in JavaScript and also familiar with object-oriented programming concepts. If you are not familiar with these concepts then we suggest that you first review the many free JavaScript tutorials available on the web to get you started.
These pages will be updated and added to over time and will also grow with feedback from users like yourself. The design concept is to allow a developer to quickly start creating maps and adding additional functionality as the reader traverses these pages and learns more of the power of the QuickMap® Developers Toolkit. There are working examples available in most cases and references available for those who want to get stuck right into the code.
